WITH MAGGIE FLANIGAN
FEB 3, 10-4P
This course focuses on image making in a new way. Lumen Prints are created through the use of natural sunlight and expired or fogged darkroom paper. Because Lumens are created through the use of light, light will forever change them. The process produces liminal prints in various colors based on the brand name of the paper as well as liquids on the surface. Lumen Printing is a contact printing process and can be used with photo negatives, leaves and flowers, trash, bugs, lace, and anything else you can imagine! Students in this course will create compositions with natural elements and scan their original prints to create a permanent record. Students will also use Photoshop to dust and color correct their lumen prints and gain skills to digitally edit their photographs.
MAGGIE FLANIGAN is a newcomer to Richmond having recently completed grad school at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. She specializes in teaching art and photography at all levels as well as working with alternative photographic process, printmaking, and mixed media fiber arts.
