We host field trips at Studio Two Three for middle and high school students. We can also bring printmaking to you with our print truck, S23 To-Go! We are happy to customize field trips to your needs and curriculum. Check out our field trip policies HERE!

Studio Two Three field trips are a chance for my students to see and experience working in an established, collaborative, creative space with access to the best tools, ample room to spread out, and excellent instruction.  The space itself makes you excited to create.  There is inspiration hanging in every nook and cranny.  Artists are always working on their own projects alongside them when we visit, and my students get to peek into their studio spaces, getting a glimpse at real people living creative lifestyles.

Learn about zines! Capture your story, your day, your schedule, your memoirs in a one or multi-page book. We will review the history of zines and bookmaking and students will leave with a book of their own. All materials provided. Students should bring inspiration.

We will teach students the basics of screen printing including preparing images, coating and exposing screens, set up and clean up, and, of course, printing!

We provide instructors, screens, ink and paper. Students should brink a blank, light-colored t-shirt.

Use our maps, our giant wood type, or collage plates made by students to explore relief printing! We can print words or phrases of students' choosing on giant banners, or giant maps of RVA to bring back to your school. Always a great teamwork activity, plus you get your hands inky!

All on-site field trips are $20/student. We encourage Title One schools to inquire about funding available to offer reduced cost trips.  Please fill out the form below to arrange a field trip. Questions? Email kb@studiotwothree.org!

***HEADS UP! We book up quickly - usually 1-2 months in advance, so reach out ASAP when you have a field trip date in mind!***

No time to take an off-site field trip? We can bring printmaking to you with our print truck, S23 To-Go! We can come to your school for a single class visit or stay for a whole Print Week for all students and teachers!

We bring you professional artists trained in utilizing printmaking and photography to bring your ideas to life. We’ll work with you to integrate printmaking, photography, drawing and bookmaking in your art, history, science, language, classes and print some school swag, too! Offerings include:

SCREEN PRINTING EXPLORATION: Learn to print using pre-made screens that S23 brings, or create screens using images your students create!

BOOKMAKING WORKSHOP: Each student will create a zine (self-published book) on a subject of your choosing - history, poetry, chemistry, the number π - print 10 or 100 and distribute them or trade with other students!

ART & TEXT: Use your words (and images) to create banners and tapestries with our giant wood type, hand-carved maps and large graphic woodcuts. Hang them up for all to see!

SCHOOL PRIDE PRINT FEST: Fun for the whole class! Screen print your school logo on tee-shirts, tote bags, and posters. Plus, create custom banners to encourage your teams with our giant wood type.

TEACHER TRAINING/SOCIAL HOUR: Learn print and photo techniques you can use in the classroom without fancy equipment. Plus, spend some time with other adults making prints to take home.
