Richmond Public Schools Advocacy

We were proud to partner with Richmond Public Schools (RPS) to advocate for more funding for our public schools. We hosted RPS’ first Advocacy Summit to celebrate the stories of students and also learn about RPS 2020 advocacy priorities. The RPS school board, Mayor Levar Stoney, and Superintendent Jason Kamras attended alongside students, educators and families. Community members screen printed t-shirts and posters with new RPS advocacy graphics and distributed them to their schools and communities.

We also worked with teachers and advocates to prepare signs and shirts ahead of the “Fund Our Future” rally, calling on the General Assembly to set aside more funding in the budget for schools. Read more here. We are in continuing dialogue to support RPS’ students summer learning through public art tours.
