Anchoring Grassroots Organizations

We believe in radical generosity and the power of grassroots community art production. To this end, we provide free space and deeply discounted program & administrative space for small & grassroots organizations including:

  • Afrikana Film Festival (a space that celebrates, elevates, and further validates Black stories, Black voices, and Black lives)

  • Performing Statistics (an 8 week summer institute that works with incarcerated youth to creatively reimagine the juvenile justice system

We believe deeply in the power of printmaking to amplify the voices, stories and perspectives of our community.

Printmaking is an accessible, affordable means of mass production, and tool for civic engagement. We provide discounted & in-kind printing support for community groups & advocacy initiatives, and regularly host arts & advocacy projects including:

  • Richmond Public Schools (we provide space, educational assistance and printmaking for their advocacy meetings and events)

  • Southerners on New Ground (a home for LGBTQ liberation across all lines of race, class, abilities, age, culture, gender, and sexuality in the South)

  • History is Illuminating (we provide design & printing support for this project subverting the Lost Cause narrative and telling powerful Black stories)

We  bring our mobile print truck out in support of organizations with boots on the ground making our community stronger. We hold several Community Print Days a month; the content and printing vary each time. We’ve screen printed Defend Black Lives t-shirts, created giant letterpress type banners, and have converted the print truck into a darkroom to create large-format 8x10 portraits.

  • We provide ink and designs (screen prints, giant letterpress banners)

  • Participants bring fabric, shirts or paper -  and extra to share if they can!

  • BIPOC to the front!

Stay tuned to our Instagram for updates on upcoming Community Print Days!
