Fun Things To Do With Friends

Supporting our artist community is at the heart of what we do. Each day we’re going to be sharing some important tools, opportunities, and resources for artists on our blog. Follow along and reach out if you need additional support.

Today we’re going to share some fun ways to stay in touch with family and friends even while far away.

It’s day 689567 of social distancing and theres nothing to really update my friends on. Here are some fun ways to stay in touch with loved ones cause WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER EVEN IF IT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE IT.

Here are some ways to stay part of community even if you cant be together:

I know y’all are Face-timing/ Zoom(ing?) but on day 6743 what else can you talk about? Try hyping up your online hang sesh with:

A recipe exchange!

Pick a recipe and have one friend lead the cooking experience as everyone follows along.

Book club!

Pick a book and set your daily progress goals. Set a time to digest and analyze the book together. Maybe start Emergent Strategy by Adrienne Maree Brown.

Online games!

A couple of traditional games have made an easy transition to the internet and are best enjoyed with others on a call. Classics are Pictionary, charades, Cards Against Humanity, and Codenames. Check out some more online activities here.

Slow it down!

Send snail mail! Support the USPS by buying stamps and lean into the drama of the times by writing a letter by candlelight (or not). Send a poem, a recipe, a love letter, a drawing - and ask for one back!

Workout buddies!

There are a bunch of free workouts online (search for yoga, HIIT, pilates, or cardio on YouTube). Pick a schedule and rope a friend in to hold you accountable. You don’t have to do anything perfectly, it’s just about trying your best and making yourself feel strong.

Volunteer!

There are organizations who need help providing essential services to the community. Find one that you are comfortable with and try it out! For example, here at Studio Two Three we need volunteers for mask making. (Don’t worry, we’re following protocols to keep everyone safe).

Remember to check up on elders and those who are alone during this time. Let them know you are available and ask them how they are doing / what they need.

Stay safe!
