Linocut 101

Tues 4/22 5:30-8:30PM at Studio Two Three 109 W. 15th St.
Instructor: Sophie Sallade
Learn to carve and print designs into a linoleum block to create a relief print. We’ll begin by carving a signature block, which we’ll print in various colors and combinations. Then, we’ll carve a strong final image on a larger block. You’ll learn about design, carving techniques, printing and paper selection and finish the class with several completed prints.
Sophie Sallade is a printmaker holding a BFA in Painting + Printmaking, along with a minor in Craft + Materials Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sophie specializes in carving linocut prints, primarily focused on architecture, parks, and natural landscapes from Richmond, VA, and beyond. Through her work, she captures the beauty and intricacy of urban and natural environments, blending her passion for both carving and the natural world.
